I love coconut and I always have. I grew up living near the coast in a small city in Mexico, and my family and I always lived pretty much surrounded by coconut trees. The people over there are used to eating coconut in so many different ways, they always sold it at every corner at coconut drink stands and not only they would sell the coconut water as a drink but the way that they would prepare the coconuts was by scraping meat pieces off the coconut, leaving the coconut meat pieces inside the coconut shell to use it as a bowl, then added little bit of coconut water, a pinch of salt, a splash of hot sauce, and lime juice, they would then stick a pair of toothpicks that to the rims of the coconuts for you to pick at it eat it -voila! Let me tell you, while it may sound unsual, it tastes delicious!

I have always loved the smell of coconut too, in candles, shampoos, body moisturizers you name it. I believe the taste of it is quite unique and delicious. Coconuts, in my opinion could be considered a super food, it provides you with so many benefits. Coconut oil is not only used for cooking, it can also be used as a body moisturizer, as a hair treatment, to moisturize your face, and it can also be used for therapeutic massage. My husband's back is usually sore and also very dry, and i use coconut oil to massage his back, it works wonderfully.

I was very lucky to have the opportunity to review Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil and my family and I LOVED it.

~My Experience cooking with Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil~
I have used Tropical Traditions Coconut oil in several recipes of my own, and my family and I have fallen in love with how tasty food is when cooked with it. I have added it to Spaghetti Squash instead of adding butter, Potato Soup, Carrot Soup, Caramelized Onions with Garlic and Asparagus Soup, also added it to Roasted Asparagus with Garlic Powder, Roasted Potato Salad with Diced Onions and Green Vegetables drizzled with the coconut oil, salt and black pepper, I've also made Whole Wheat Bread, and let me tell you, the taste is always unbelievably good! The possibilities are endless! To describe the flavor of it when I tried it with the tip of a spoon I would have to say: the taste is very silky, has a hint of sweet flavor in it and it melts in your mouth nicely leaving a delicious coconutty taste, Yum! Even if you didn't like coconut I think you would love the delicate taste of this coconut oil, and the aroma of it as you are cooking with it.

How is This Oil Used?

Virgin Coconut Oil is a food, and is one of the best cooking oils you can use. It has been a staple cooking oil for thousands of years in tropical climates. As a cooking oil, its chemical structure is kept in tact and therefore is resistant to mutations of fatty acid chains even when used in higher cooking temperatures, unlike most vegetable oils. Research shows that the medium chain fatty acids found in coconut oil boosts the body’s metabolism, raises body temperatures, and helps provide greater energy which can lead to weight loss. More about this amazing Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil:
This Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is a truly unrefined coconut oil. This coconut oil is made on Mt. Banahaw and surrounding areas from organic coconuts. Coconuts are used fresh (within 24-48 hours of harvest) from small family farms on Mt. Banahaw and other rural places in Quezon Province, the coconut capital of the Philippines. Only the highest quality coconuts are hand-picked from each harvest. The volcanic soil of Mt. Banahaw makes these organic coconuts some of the most nutritionally rich coconuts in the world! Testing done in independent laboratories reveals higher levels of phenolic antioxidants than other coconut oils. The fresh coconut meat is shredded (wet milled), and then cold-pressed using the water from inside the coconuts to make coconut milk. The milk is then allowed to sit for about half a day, while the oil naturally separates from the heavier water. The oil is then filtered from the curds (coconut solids). No chemical or high-heat treatment is used, and this oil contains no trans fatty acids. We do NOT mass produce this oil. It is made by families who are coconut farmers using old-fashioned traditional methods that have been used in the Philippines for hundreds of years. Our coconut trees and family producers are certified organic according to strict USDA standards. The families who produce the oil are also trained according to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards and re-certified each year. This high-grade Virgin Coconut Oil has a long shelf life due to the high antioxidant properties. The Gold Label standard is our highest standard for Virgin Coconut Oil. Read more.

Interesting Fact:
"Virgin Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid, a nutrient that supports the body’s immune system. Lauric acid is also found in human mother’s milk. Dr. Mary Enig suggests the average adult include about 3.5 tablespoons of coconut oil per day in their diet to take in an equivalent amount of lauric acid that a nursing infant would receive from breast milk."
